Several reports circulated in the last two weeks about “peak oil” – oil production in established fields now declining, not just because of OPEC constraints on production, but also because the quantity of oil available from these sources has passed peak production and will decline steadily.

Ever since someone cleverly coined the phrase "Dirty Oil" it has created the impression that somewhere in the world there is "Clean Oil".

The third largest annual volume of "oilsands" production is from cold production of heavy oil pools, which contain an estimated 9% of all the oil
located in the geographically defined oil sands areas in Alberta.

this dialogue is in response to the Zero Waste in the Oil Sands report
Think of it as accelerated Industrial Ecology or think of it as Environmental Capiatlism -- whatever you name it, creating economic value from what we've previously thought of as "waste" is vital to improving the overall performance in Canada's oil sands operations.
