I am a co-founder, Board Member and partner of the Energy Futures Network.
My consulting practice focuses on in strategic development, leadership mentoring and facilitating multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder collaborative initiatives in all areas of energy production, use and policy.
I have several interests and specialties:
Consulting in technology R&D&D&D (research, development, demonstration and deployment) for alternate and renewable energy technologies including hydrogen, fuel cells, bioenergy, geothermal and others;
Mentoring leaders of technology companies and government agencies;
Developing multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder collaborative initiatives to more rapidly deploy innovative technologies using the Challenge Dialogue and other processes.
My experience includes:
Positions with EnergyINet, a national not-for-profit that assisted governments and industry to develop integrated, environmentally responsible energy technologies, initially as the Program Director for Alternative and Renewable Energy and, latterly, as Vice President. While at EnergyINet, I lead the Challenge Dialogues® for development of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Canada, The National Bioenergy Strategy for Canada, "Making the Case for an Integrated Clean Carbon Economy in Western North America" Innovation Forum and the Canada as a Responsible Energy Superpower.
25 years in technology development and commercialization in various fields - fuel cells, geographic information systems, spectroscopic instrumentation, software development and coatings - both as an active researcher and in various management capacities through the role as CEO.
My education and early career includes a BSc (Hons) in biochemistry (University of Calgary), a PhD in chemistry (University of Minnesota) and an MBA (University of Calgary), plus research positions at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Western Ontario. I have published widely and I received the R&D 100 Award and Photonics Spectra Award for my development of the LS100 luminescence spectrometers.
